Filtration & Air Quality

What the system actually captures before air reaches the rooms. Filtration is the one part of an HVAC system homeowners can change themselves, and also the one where the wrong upgrade quietly costs you more than it gains — so everything here gets matched to what your blower can actually pull through.

Pleated Filter — MERV Matched to Your Blower

A standard one-inch pleated filter, but chosen against what your system can actually handle rather than by whichever number looks highest on the box. Here is the part the packaging never says: pushing MERV up in a one-inch slot raises resistance, and a blower fighting a restrictive filter moves less air, runs longer, and can freeze a coil. If your equipment has the headroom we will go higher. If it does not, we will tell you that a MERV 8 you replace on time beats a MERV 13 that starves the system.

Rating scale: MERV per ASHRAE 52.2Selection basis: Matched to the blower's measured static-pressure headroom

Filter-Back Return Grille & Frame

A proper filter frame at the return so the filter actually seals instead of sitting loose in an oversized opening. Sounds trivial; it is not. Air takes the easy path, and a filter with a half-inch gap around it is largely decorative — the dust goes around the edge and straight onto the coil. Fixing the seal often does more measurable good than raising the MERV rating.

Purpose: Eliminates bypass around an unsealed filter

A $99 camera inspection is the cheapest way to find out whether you need us at all — and a real share of them end with “not yet”. Either way you keep the footage.
